The current Matchbook toolkit

A place for every
part of the practice.

From the intention before a game to the pattern you notice a month later. These capabilities are in the current development code; public access has not launched.

Prepare with intention

Practice sessions. Choose a focus, an intention, your energy level, and a planned number of games. Return to an active session or wrap it up when the work is done.

Champion and matchup preparation. Keep a champion pool and personal notes. Bring the things you have learned about a matchup into the next time you play it.

Follow-through. Check how the session went against your focus, and leave yourself a useful takeaway for the next one.

Keep what happened

Automatic game recording. Once League is connected and permissions are enabled, supported games record as they begin. Configure recording, audio, microphone, and storage settings on Mac.

Moment flags. Press ⌘J to mark the current point in a recording. The shortcut is configurable. Optional voice notes can attach words to a flag, with the required permissions.

Match imports. League match history and statistics connect to your sessions, so game context does not depend on manual transcription.

Existing video files. Add recordings from a chosen watch folder. Supported files include MP4, MOV, and MKV; the folder is checked periodically. Import support does not guarantee simultaneous capture compatibility with every recorder.

Find the moments worth a second look

Quick Review. Event-based sequences bring kills, deaths, objectives, and teamfights into view. Use them to get oriented before deciding where to spend more time.

Immersive review. Watch the recording with timeline events, your flags, annotations, and per-game writing nearby.

The Chronicle. Revisit sessions, recordings, flags, and reflections together. Search written words, champions, and opponents; narrow the view by flags, clips, champion, matchup, or focus.

Clip library. Keep, search, sort, rename, tag, play, and export saved clips. A spoken “clip this” note creates a candidate to revisit in the film; it does not automatically export a finished video.

Put the lesson into your own words

Per-game and session writing. Capture what you saw, how you were thinking, and what you want to do differently. Bring a previous takeaway into the next session.

Daily and monthly reflection. Use prompted daily entries and longer monthly check-ins to look beyond the most recent result.

Freeform notes and learning objectives. Keep ideas that do not fit a single game, alongside what you are actively practicing.

These are tools for your own observation and writing. AI coaching is not part of the current product.

Look at your own patterns

LP and champion performance. Follow your rank history, champion results, and matchup records. Inspect the part of your play that the selected champion and queue actually describe.

Practice and mental-state context. Look at process checks, play-time patterns, and self-reported state alongside results.

Champion knowledge and Pool Lab. Revisit your champion details, notes and matchup guides as you work on your pool.

Wellness context. Optional Apple Health data from Companion can bring sleep, activity, mindfulness, heart rate, and HRV context into descriptive comparisons. Coverage matters; a pattern is not proof that one thing caused another.

Each device has a job

  • Mac: the full practice workspace, including recording and review. Requires macOS 15.4 or later on Apple silicon.
  • iPhone and iPad: Today, Insights, and Library. Today currently focuses on Health context. Full recordings stream from a paired, awake Mac on the same Wi-Fi with Matchbook open; uploaded clips can stream over the internet. iOS and iPadOS 18 or later.
  • Web: sessions, matches, LP stats, reflections, and champion notes. Reflections and champion notes can be created and edited. It is not a browser recorder.
  • Windows: an early prototype. A complete Windows capture app is not available.

Availability: these are capabilities under development, not a list of released downloads. Contact hello@matchbook.gg about current access.
